Despite the severe cold wave sweeping across North India, devotees in Varanasi are showing remarkable enthusiasm to visit Baba Vishwanath temple. The chilling weather and intermittent drizzle have not dampened the spirits of the faithful who continue to throng the temple with unwavering devotion.
Devotees Unfazed by Cold
Many devotees expressed that cold weather does not affect their resolve to seek blessings from Baba Vishwanath. One pilgrim shared, “The blessings of Baba Vishwanath are more important than any discomfort caused by the cold. The crowd is manageable, and the darshan has been smooth.” Another young visitor added that despite heavy fog and low temperatures, exploring Kashi in winter brings a special joy, highlighting the deep-rooted faith that calls people to the holy city.
Faith Overcomes Weather Challenges
A female devotee compared the cold in Varanasi with that of Himachal Pradesh, noting that the chill here is milder. She remarked, “Baba Vishwanath called us here, and we have come to seek his blessings. Though there is a considerable crowd, the darshan process is well-organised and peaceful.” Another devotee emphasized that cold is a natural part of the season, but it does not deter anyone from experiencing the spiritual significance of visiting Kashi Vishwanath.
Weather Conditions and Forecast
The Meteorological Department reported that Varanasi’s temperature on Friday is expected to range between 6.6 degrees Celsius (minimum) and 11.6 degrees Celsius (maximum). Nearby cities also recorded low temperatures: Prayagraj at 8 degrees, Bareilly at 6.4 degrees, Gorakhpur at 9.2 degrees, and Lucknow at 8 degrees Celsius.
Over the past 24 hours, weather remained dry across both Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh divisions. Dense to very dense fog was observed in several parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and some parts of Western Uttar Pradesh, reducing visibility drastically in many locations. The state also recorded cold day temperatures and a few extremely cold days, particularly in Western Uttar Pradesh.
Despite these harsh weather conditions, the faith and enthusiasm of devotees in Kashi remain unshaken, as they continue to seek the blessings of Baba Vishwanath with devotion and hope.
