Developed NDMC, Developed Delhi: Budget Highlights by Kuljeet Singh Chahal

New Delhi, 8 January: Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Vice Chairman of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), described the NDMC budget as a step towards a developed NDMC in a developed India. Drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he highlighted key provisions focused on environment, education, cleanliness, energy, and health sectors.

Chahal emphasized that the budget gives special attention to increasing greenery. He announced plans to develop a Miyawaki forest within the NDMC area, along with annual tree plantation drives in collaboration with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs). A dedicated committee has been formed to oversee these efforts.

Under the ‘AI for All’ initiative, students from classes 7 to 12 will be educated about artificial intelligence to prepare the younger generation to keep pace with technological advancements.

The budget also includes provisions to promote solar energy, aiming to boost the use of clean and sustainable power. Additionally, funds have been allocated to procure new medical machinery to enhance healthcare services.

Addressing pollution and dust control, Chahal mentioned the deployment of jet sweeping, road washing, and anti-smog guns in the NDMC area to reduce dust and maintain effective pollution control.

He praised Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for her leadership and noted the cooperative efforts between the NDMC and the Delhi government to realise the vision of a developed Delhi and NDMC.

Regarding the recent eviction drive near Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque, Chahal, a resident of Old Delhi himself, acknowledged longstanding encroachments in the area. He stated that the action was taken in compliance with High Court orders, with police and administration executing the directives to preserve the city’s beauty and order.

On enhancing Lutyens Delhi, Chahal affirmed the commitment to keep the NDMC area—the heart of the nation—as the cleanest and greenest zone. He claimed that while other roads in Delhi deteriorated, NDMC roads remained in good condition, earning awards related to cleanliness.

Chahal concluded by stating that NDMC is the cleanest and greenest area in the country and will continue to maintain its model of cleanliness and development across rooftops, residential, commercial, and institutional sectors.
