Dehradun, February 9: Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat has urged the President to request a CBI investigation into the Ankita Bhandari murder case under the supervision of the Supreme Court. In a conversation in Dehradun, Rawat emphasized that an FIR should be filed against the VIPs involved, and a thorough investigation into the destroyed evidence is essential.
In a post on X, Rawat expressed solidarity with the ongoing Mahapanchayat demanding justice for Ankita Bhandari. He met with Ankita’s parents, praising their composure and courage despite their immense grief. Their steadfast demand for justice has united the people of Uttarakhand. He stated that their pain resonates with every resident of the state.
Rawat highlighted that this struggle is not just for Ankita but also a call from sacred sites like Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Hemkund Sahib. The entire state is once again stirred, and the nation is watching closely. He insisted that this fight must reach a decisive point.
He stressed that until VIPs, regardless of their status, are held accountable under the law, and until those who destroyed evidence and police officials who delayed the case face justice, the fight must continue.
In response to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks calling Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu a “traitor friend,” Rawat noted that if someone who has been elected multiple times and given significant positions leaves the party for the BJP, it is understandable for Gandhi to label him as such.
