Delhi Police Enhances Security for Opposition Rally at Ramlila Maidan

Delhi police implement extensive security measures for the oppositions Save Vote, Save Country rally at Ramlila Maidan this Sunday.

New Delhi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : In New Delhi, preparations are underway for a significant opposition rally scheduled for Sunday at Ramlila Maidan. The event, organized by the India bloc, is themed ‘Save Vote, Save Country’ and aims to protest against alleged vote theft and the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process. In response to the anticipated turnout, the Delhi police have established comprehensive security and traffic management protocols.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh provided detailed insights into the security arrangements, crowd control strategies, and traffic management for buses arriving from various states. He explained, “Our police preparations consist of two main aspects: venue arrangements and route management. Officers will be stationed along the march route, which extends from Minto Bridge to JLN and Chaman Lal Marg.”

The DCP noted that the venue can accommodate between 45,000 to 50,000 attendees. He emphasized the need to prevent overcrowding, stating, “If more people arrive, we must ensure that no stampede occurs inside. Therefore, we will need to manage additional crowds in surrounding areas like Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Asaf Ali Marg, and Chaman Lal Marg.”

Addressing accusations from Congress and other opposition parties regarding police obstruction, Singh asserted that there is effective coordination between the police and the event organizers. “We have held multiple meetings with organizers throughout the week. I can confidently say that our coordination is strong, and I don’t believe organizers would report otherwise,” he remarked.

Regarding the smooth flow of buses and vehicles, Singh mentioned that designated bus stops have been established in coordination with traffic police. He added, “Areas at Rajghat Depot and Delhi Gate will serve as bus stopping points. To ensure pedestrian safety, we have restricted bus and vehicle access in high foot-traffic areas, allowing for open pedestrian movement.”

Joint Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma also highlighted that measures have been put in place to maintain law and order and ensure proper traffic management. “We are committed to preventing any inconvenience to the public while ensuring the safety of those attending the protest,” he stated.

Tensions remain high as the opposition prepares to voice their concerns, with the police ready to manage the influx of participants.
