Delhi Police Busts Interstate Drug Trafficking Gang, Three Arrested

New Delhi, May 21: In a significant achievement under its ‘zero tolerance policy’ towards drugs, the Delhi Police has dismantled an interstate drug trafficking gang. The Anti-Narcotics Team of the Eastern District seized a total of 195.56 grams of heroin, valued at approximately ₹2.5 million in the international illegal market. Three traffickers have been arrested in connection with this case.

Among the arrested individuals, the main supplier, Abrar, hails from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The other two suspects are linked to Delhi. In addition to the heroin, police also confiscated a Yamaha scooter used for transporting drugs.

According to police reports, on the night of May 14 and 15, the team laid a trap based on confidential information near a dumping yard in Ghaziabad. They apprehended a 22-year-old man named Sarvesh, who is from Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. During the search, 73.11 grams of heroin was found in his possession.

During interrogation, Sarvesh revealed that he obtained heroin from Abrar and supplied it to a person named Sahil in Delhi. Following this lead, the police arrested Sahil, a 24-year-old resident of the Bhalswa Dairy area, near the Jahangirpuri Metro Station. From him, 92.45 grams of heroin and a scooter were recovered.

Subsequently, the team tracked down the main source, Abrar, who is 40 years old and resides in Bhamora village, Bareilly district. Police conducted a raid in Bareilly, arresting him and seizing an additional 30 grams of heroin, effectively dismantling the entire gang.

Interrogation revealed that Sahil was also a drug addict, which led him to connect with Sarvesh. Initially, he bought and sold small quantities of drugs but later transitioned to bulk purchases. All three suspects were motivated by the lure of quick money, exploiting the vulnerabilities of drug addicts in the Delhi-NCR region.

The Anti-Narcotics Team of the Delhi Police executed this operation with great caution, relying on local sources and intelligence. Under the leadership of Inspector Arun Kumar, the team worked tirelessly. Further investigations are ongoing, with police searching for additional potential links.

The Delhi Police emphasizes its ongoing campaigns against drugs, striving to rid society of the dangers posed by narcotics. Continuous surveillance is being maintained on such gangs, with efforts to eradicate them completely.
