Delhi Police Arrest Snatcher with Three Mobiles in Vigilant Patrolling

New Delhi, February 2: Delhi Police arrested a snatcher caught with three stolen mobile phones during a vigilant patrolling operation. While two accomplices managed to escape, the police have registered a case under relevant sections and launched an investigation.

The police issued a statement on Monday explaining that multiple patrolling teams have been formed under each police station to enhance security. These teams are briefed thoroughly and instructed to patrol with full alertness, especially early in the morning, to monitor any suspicious activity. The goal is not only to prevent crimes but also to keep a close watch on active criminals in the area.

During one such patrol on January 27, constable Pratap of PP Sidhpura was conducting routine patrolling near Rani Jhansi Road, Model Basti Red Light area. He noticed a motorcycle collide with a car. As the police approached, three bike riders panicked and tried to flee.

Constable Pratap immediately chased them and managed to catch one of the three, while the other two escaped on the motorcycle. The arrested youth was identified as Ritik alias Kalwa, 22, a resident of Nabi Karim, Paharganj, Delhi.

On searching Ritik, police recovered three mobile phones, confirming his involvement in mobile snatching incidents. During questioning, Ritik revealed that along with his associates Wasim and Salim, he had stolen a grey Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle from Anand Parvat about 10–12 days ago. Using the stolen bike, they committed mobile snatching in the Motinagar and Lahori Gate areas. Ritik was arrested, while the police continue to search for Wasim and Salim.

The recovered mobile phones include an Oppo phone linked to the Motinagar theft case, an Itel phone connected to the Lahori Gate snatching, and a Lava phone for which Ritik failed to provide any ownership documents or satisfactory explanation.

The police are investigating further to apprehend the remaining accused and identify the rightful owners of the recovered phones.
