Chennai, February 22: The Delhi Police’s Q Branch, in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Police, arrested six Bangladeshi nationals in Tirupur district on Saturday. They are accused of posting content on social media in support of terrorist organizations from Pakistan and residing in India without valid documentation.
These arrests followed specific intelligence inputs regarding inflammatory online activities and suspected communications with radical elements operating across borders.
A team from the Delhi Police’s Q Branch conducted simultaneous raids at three locations in Tirupur with assistance from the local district police. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Liton, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammad Ujjal.
Police sources reported that the suspects were taken into custody without incident. During the search, authorities seized eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards.
Initial investigations revealed that these devices were allegedly used to share content supporting banned terrorist organizations and to maintain contact with suspicious handlers. The seized devices have been sent for forensic analysis to examine communication records and identify potential links to larger networks.
Investigators noted that the six individuals had been residing and working in Tirupur for some time, employed in garment manufacturing units in the Uthukuli, Thirumuruganpoondi, and Palladam areas.
Authorities stated that the accused were living in India without valid passports or visas. There are suspicions that they used fake Aadhaar cards to secure jobs and accommodation.
Further inquiries are ongoing to determine the extent of their activities and whether they are part of an organized network. Security agencies have intensified monitoring and verification measures in the area as part of ongoing efforts to track suspected illegal activities.
