Delhi Metro Police Solve Jewellery Theft Case
New Delhi: The Kashmiri Gate Metro Police Station, along with the Metro Special Staff team, successfully solved a jewellery bag theft case that occurred on January 22. The stolen bag containing gold and jewellery worth approximately Rs 20 lakh was recovered.
Investigation Through CCTV and Identification of Suspect
The case was registered under FIR number 04/2026 at Kashmiri Gate Metro Police Station on January 22, under section 303 BNS. Detailed examination of CCTV footage from Chandni Chowk Metro Station revealed a woman dressed in a pink jacket and black pants carrying the jewellery bag and boarding a metro train towards Millennium City Centre.
Further review of internal CCTV footage at Barakhamba Metro Station showed that the woman travelled up to Noida Sector-52 Metro Station and exited through Gate Number 2. Through technical and manual investigation, the suspect was identified as Heena, a first-year BSc student. She stated that she had gone shopping at Chandni Chowk Market for a cousin’s wedding with her family.
Recovery and Legal Action
The investigation revealed that Heena had taken the complainant’s bag without informing anyone and had taken it home. The jewellery bag containing gold and other items valued at around Rs 20 lakh was recovered. The accused had no prior criminal record. Based on the investigation and the suspect’s statement, appropriate legal action was taken as per the law.
The swift and coordinated efforts of the Kashmiri Gate Metro Police and the Metro Special Staff, along with an in-depth review of CCTV footage, were praised by the Delhi Police. Their prompt action led to the successful recovery of the stolen jewellery and closure of the case.
