Delhi High Court on Thursday issued important directions in the case of Major Vikrant Jetley, brother of actress Salina Jetley, who is under custody in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The court granted time to the actress’s legal team to file an additional affidavit based on the status report submitted by the central government, allowing new facts to be recorded in the case.
Salina Jetley has been persistently seeking legal assistance and communication facilities for her brother, who has been detained in a UAE jail. She emphasised the critical need for him to have proper legal support and communication access to stay informed about his rights and safety. The next hearing in the Delhi High Court is scheduled for 3 February.
In an interaction, Salina expressed optimism, saying, “The next date is 3 February. The judge will hear the case then. I am very positive that something good will happen for Vikrant. The entire nation is praying for Major Vikrant and eagerly awaiting his return. My only request to the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to please bring Vikrant back safely.”
Salina’s lawyer, Raghav Kakar, described Thursday’s developments as very positive. He stated, “We have been given more time to uncover additional details, and I am hopeful that everything will be clear by Tuesday. This is a very encouraging step for us.”
Major Vikrant Kumar Jetley, who has been living in the UAE since 2016 and working for a company named Matty Group, was reportedly taken into custody in September 2024 over national security concerns. After being held for more than a year without adequate legal support or family contact, Salina approached the Delhi High Court. She alleged that her brother was kept at a secret location for nine months without informing anyone, following which the court directed the Indian government to intervene.
