Delhi Government Offers Collateral-Free Loans for Women Startups

New Delhi, May 17: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi government is making significant efforts to empower women in the capital, promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship. As part of this initiative, the government has introduced a scheme providing collateral-free loans of up to ₹10 crores for women self-help groups and startups, guaranteed by the Delhi government.

During the inauguration of the two-day ‘Mega Self Help Group (SHG) Fair-2026’ at Unity One Mall near Rohini West Metro Station, the Chief Minister stated that the Delhi government will regularly provide platforms in malls and large shopping complexes for indigenous products, allowing local goods to reach a broader market.

The event was attended by MP Yogendra Chandolia, MLA Kulwant Rana, District Magistrate Soumya Saurabh, senior officials from the district administration, representatives from various banking institutions, and numerous women associated with self-help groups. The fair was organized by the North West District Administration.

The Chief Minister emphasized that women in the country are enhancing their family income through small industries and handmade products while also contributing to the national economy. She noted that many people chase foreign brands, while Indian handicrafts, khadi, and domestic products are equally high in quality. The key lies in better branding and marketing.

She urged the public to prefer local and indigenous products over foreign goods. The Chief Minister highlighted that India is rapidly moving towards self-reliance in various sectors, including defense, space, agriculture, and manufacturing, with Indian products being exported globally. There is a need to give national and international recognition to domestic and handmade products crafted by women.

The government aims for every woman in the capital to be part of self-help groups, create their products, and connect with the market. Efforts are also underway to facilitate easy loans for women through banks. The fair included various banks to strengthen the banking and financial access for self-help groups.

According to the Chief Minister, the Delhi government has arranged for collateral-free loans of up to ₹10 crores for women self-help groups and startups, guaranteed by the government. She reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation, the use of public transport, and the adoption of indigenous goods. The Delhi government is promoting campaigns like ‘Monday Metro’ and ‘No Vehicle Day’ to save fuel and strengthen the national economy. Small changes in daily routines can directly benefit the country.

Approximately 24 self-help groups participated in this mega fair, showcasing and selling handicrafts, crochet work, khadi, domestic products, food items, and other handmade goods. Handicrafts were particularly highlighted under the North West district’s ‘One District, One Product’ initiative. The Chief Minister congratulated the district administration and all participants, stating that such events play a crucial role in strengthening the self-reliant India and indigenous economy under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
