New Delhi, April 28: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and city BJP president Virender Sachdeva have sharply criticized former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal for expressing distrust in the higher judiciary. They condemned his recent actions suggesting bias against a High Court judge in a corruption case.
Sachdeva denounced Kejriwal’s letter to Justice Swarn Kant Sharma, where he expressed distrust, in connection with the 2022 Delhi liquor scam.
On social media platform X, Chief Minister Gupta stated, “Kejriwal is among those who claim to be lawyers, witnesses, and judges all at once. If everything is the same, what is the need for this judicial system?”
She questioned his behavior, saying, “You claim you will not go to court. The accusations you made against a judge—do they suit you?”
Gupta remarked that a criminal embroiled in a massive indictment is raising his voice against the pillars of justice, claiming that decisions could be made against him. “You sit outside and declare yourself a satyagrahi—frankly, I think it’s nothing but a poor joke, one that neither the public appreciates nor our justice system permits,” she added.
Earlier, Delhi BJP president Sachdeva expressed disappointment that Kejriwal, who has sworn to uphold the Constitution and served as Chief Minister three times, is now tarnishing its dignity out of fear of corruption penalties.
He noted that despite exhausting all legal avenues, including appeals to the Supreme Court, Kejriwal has crossed boundaries by writing to a High Court judge.
Sachdeva further stated that it would not be incorrect to say that Kejriwal is engaging in ongoing political theatrics regarding the liquor scam, and after losing his appeal in the High Court, he is now making personal allegations against the judge.
