New Delhi, May 5: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Tuesday, following a cabinet meeting, that the Delhi government has approved a significant salary increase for vocational teachers and those working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
This decision also applies to teachers at special training centers aimed at reintegrating out-of-school children into the education system.
CM Gupta detailed that approximately 1,131 vocational teachers, who provide skill-based training in various subjects, will now earn between ₹38,100 per month, up from the previous range of ₹20,000-23,000.
Similarly, the salaries of teachers working at 784 centers under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan have been raised from ₹21,000 to ₹35,420 per month. These centers focus on educating children who are out of school and preparing them for mainstream education.
Gupta stated that with the revised salaries, teachers under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan will now receive pay equivalent to that of primary and upper primary teachers.
She emphasized that this is not just a financial decision but a recognition of the dedication and hard work of teachers who strive to bring children into the educational fold under challenging circumstances.
The Chief Minister added that this salary increase will not only enhance the economic security of teachers but also boost their morale. Motivated and satisfied teachers are key to providing quality education.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, she said that their goal is to ensure that no child in Delhi is left out of the education system.
She remarked that special training centers serve as a lifeline for children who have never attended school or have dropped out. Bringing them back into the mainstream is a top priority, and teachers play a crucial role in this effort.
The Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve the quality of these centers through regular monitoring, parental counseling, and better coordination among various departments.
She concluded by stating that their aim is not just to enroll children in schools but to inspire them to learn and secure their future. The Delhi government is committed to continuous improvement and innovation in education, and this salary hike is another step in that direction.
