Vadodara, February 5: Delhi Capitals have set a formidable target of 204 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 final at BCA Stadium. Key contributions came from Laura Wolvaardt, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Chinelle Henry, who propelled the Capitals to a strong score.
In Thursday’s final, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and opted to field first. In response, the Capitals scored 203 runs, losing four wickets in their allotted overs.
The opening partnership between Shefali Verma and Lizelle Lee provided a solid start, accumulating 49 runs in just 5.5 overs. Shefali scored 20 runs off 13 balls, hitting three fours before getting out. Lizelle Lee then partnered with Laura Wolvaardt to add 23 runs for the second wicket.
Lee contributed 37 runs to the team’s total, including three sixes and three fours. Following this, captain Jemimah Rodrigues formed a crucial partnership with Wolvaardt, adding 76 runs for the third wicket off 51 balls, putting the team in a commanding position.
Jemimah scored 57 runs off 37 balls, featuring eight fours, before being dismissed. Wolvaardt, alongside Chinelle Henry, then added 54 runs, pushing the team’s score past 200. Wolvaardt scored 44 runs with five boundaries, while Henry remained unbeaten at 35 runs off just 15 balls. For RCB, Sayali Satghare, Arundhati Reddy, and Nadine de Klerk each took one wicket.
In the final, Delhi Capitals, under the captaincy of Jemimah Rodrigues, fielded a team that included wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee, Shefali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt, Marizanne Kapp, Chinelle Henry, Nikki Prasad, Sneh Rana, Minnu Mani, Shree Charani, and Nandini Sharma.
On the other hand, Smriti Mandhana leads the Royal Challengers Bangalore, which features Grace Harris, Georgia Wareham, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Radha Yadav, Nadine de Klerk, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Sayali Satghare, Shreyanka Patil, and Lauren Bell.
