Deep Condolences for Rinku Singhs Family from BCCI Secretary Devjeet Saikia

Chennai, February 27: Devjeet Saikia, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has expressed his sorrow over the passing of Rinku Singh’s father and extended condolences to the family.

In a conversation, Saikia stated, “During this difficult time, I express my heartfelt condolences on behalf of the BCCI to Rinku Singh and his entire family. He left Chennai at 5 AM for a hospital in Greater Noida, where his father was receiving treatment.”

Saikia also confirmed that Rinku would not travel with the team to Kolkata for the upcoming Super-8 match against the West Indies on Sunday.

He mentioned that any updates regarding Rinku would be provided soon.

Tributes have also poured in from Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and the Chennai Super Kings management following the news of Rinku Singh’s father’s demise.

Rinku left Chennai at 5 AM to attend his father’s funeral. His father, Khanchand Singh, had been battling a severe illness, liver cancer. After his condition worsened, he was admitted to Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida on February 21 and was placed on ventilator support. He passed away at 4:36 AM on Friday.

As part of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2026, Rinku had visited Noida to see his ailing father before the match against Zimbabwe in Chennai on Thursday. However, he was not included in the playing eleven for that game.

Rinku’s father worked in cylinder delivery. Despite their financial struggles, it was his father’s unwavering support and hard work that inspired Rinku to pursue a career in cricket and achieve success in the sport.
