CSK look to continue winning ways against GT

Pune, April 16 : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be looking to build on their first success of the 2022 Indian Premier League, when they meet table-toppers Gujarat Titans (GT) at the MCA Stadium on Sunday. After losing four consecutive matches, Ravindra Jadeja’s CSK finally opened their account as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs. Meanwhile, the Hardik Pandya-led GT, who have tasted four wins and suffered one defeat, will be coming on the back of a 37-run victory over Rajasthan Royals. Gujarat are well-oiled, thanks to Pandya, Shubman Gill, David Miller, who finally found his form in his latest outing and Rahul Tewatia. But there is a slight concern at the top of the order with Matthew Wade’s form and at No.3 where Vijay Shankar couldn’t do much justice to his role. Skipper Pandya’s bowling along with the likes of Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan makes GT bowling department formidable. The defending champions CSK returned to winning ways on the back of brilliant knocks by Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa. Although the duo missed their respective centuries in their last match, their batting set the foundation for CSK’s first victory. The team would be hoping that the duo carry their momentum against GT. CSK also have to solve some issues in the batting department as opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali’s struggle with their forms is hurting the team in the Powerplay overs, and skipper Jadeja, too, hasn’t done much justice to his reputation of being a power-hitter in the death overs. The bowling department looks intimidating, with Jadeja and Maheesh Theekshana. But the likes of Dwayne Bravo and Chris Jordan need to work on their line and lengths as they leaked too many runs in their previous match.
