CSK Dominates MI with 8-Wicket Victory in IPL 2026

Chennai, May 2: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) triumphed over Mumbai Indians (MI) by 8 wickets in the 44th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Saturday. With this win, CSK has secured 4 victories out of 9 matches, placing them sixth in the points table, while MI remains at ninth, having lost 7 out of their 9 games.

In the match held at MA Chidambaram Stadium, MI won the toss and opted to bat first. They managed to score only 159 runs, losing 7 wickets in the process. MI faced an early setback, losing Will Jacks for just 1 run. However, Naman Dheer stabilized the innings, forming a crucial partnership of 58 runs with Ryan Rickelton off 32 balls.

Rickelton scored 37 runs off 24 balls, hitting 5 sixes before returning to the pavilion. Following him, Suryakumar Yadav teamed up with Dheer for a third-wicket partnership, contributing 40 runs in just 24 balls, bringing MI close to a respectable total. Yadav scored 21 runs from 12 balls, while Dheer top-scored for MI with 57 runs off 37 balls, including 3 sixes and 4 fours.

On the bowling front, Anshul Kamboj was the standout performer for CSK, taking 3 wickets, while Noor Ahmad claimed 2 wickets. Ramakrishna Ghosh and Jamie Overton each took 1 wicket.

In response, CSK chased down the target in 18.1 overs. They faced an early blow when Sanju Samson was dismissed for just 11 runs off 9 balls at the end of the second over. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad then partnered with Urvil Patel, adding 49 runs in 22 balls to take the score to 62.

Urvil scored 24 runs off 12 balls before getting out. Gaikwad then formed an unbeaten partnership of 98 runs with Kartik Sharma, leading CSK to victory. Gaikwad remained not out at 67 runs off 48 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 5 fours, while Sharma scored 54 runs off 40 balls, including 3 sixes and 4 fours. For MI, Jasprit Bumrah and A.M. Gajanfar each took 1 wicket.
