Meerut, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : A court in Meerut has delivered a verdict in the high-profile murder case of Saurabh Rajput. Muskaan Rastogi, the victim’s wife, and her lover, Sahil, have been found guilty of killing Rajput and concealing his body in a blue plastic drum. District Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra announced the ruling.
Sentencing for the two will take place on October 14. The trial commenced in July 2025 and included extensive court debates spanning nearly 13 months. Over this period, statements from more than 22 witnesses were recorded. Rajput’s family has urged the court to impose the death penalty on both defendants.
Rajput’s brother, Rahul, expressed hope for justice, stating, “We have always believed we would get justice. Our only demand is that they receive the same fate as our brother.” He highlighted the emotional toll the case has taken on the family, which has been fighting for justice for nearly a year and a half.
The family has attended court sessions consistently, with Rahul and their mother appearing for 11 and 9 days, respectively. Rahul noted that a total of 22 witnesses have testified in court, reiterating their demand for capital punishment. He warned that if the district court imposes a lighter sentence, they will appeal to higher courts, including the Supreme Court.
The Saurabh Rajput murder case gained national attention after his body was discovered in a blue drum at his home. Muskaan and Sahil were arrested by police on March 19 of last year.
