Couple Shot Dead in Jaipur Over Alleged Love Affair
Jaipur, January 24 : In a shocking incident, a couple was shot dead in broad daylight on Friday in the Sanganer Sadar area of Jaipur. Police are investigating the case and suspect a love affair involving the womanโs coworker. The accused, identified as Monu Upadhyay, is on the run, and police teams have been dispatched to Uttar Pradesh to apprehend him.
Incident Details
The double murder occurred around 12:30 PM on Shikarpura Road in the Jhotdawala area. The victims, identified as Rajaram (30) and his wife Asha (26), were shot inside their home. Both worked at a factory in the Sanganer RIICO area.
What Happened
According to initial investigations:
- Monu Upadhyay, a coworker of Asha at a factory in Sitapura, visited the coupleโs home around noon.
- At the time, Rajaramโs sister was also present. Rajaram instructed her to leave the house and meet a neighbor.
- Around 1 PM, Rajaramโs younger brother returned home for lunch and discovered the couple lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries near their heads.
The brother immediately alerted neighbors and rushed them to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Suspect and Motive
Police suspect that the murders stemmed from a love affair between Asha and the accused, Monu. The preliminary investigation reveals:
- Monu allegedly shot Rajaram at point-blank range in the temple and Asha in the face.
- Monu fled the scene immediately after committing the crime.
- A used cartridge was recovered from the crime scene.
The police are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to trace Monuโs movements.
Statements from Authorities
DCP South Digant Anand and other senior officials visited the crime scene. The police control room received the first report of the incident around 2:30 PM. Doctors at the hospital confirmed that the couple had been shot in the head at close range.
Victimโs Background
Rajaram worked as a laborer, while Asha was employed at the same factory as the accused. The couple lived with Rajaramโs siblings, who were away at the time of the incident.

The Sanganer Sadar Police are treating this as a case of premeditated murder.
- Teams have been dispatched to Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where Monu is believed to be hiding.
- Police are interrogating factory coworkers and acquaintances of the victims to gather more information.
