Mumbai, March 26: The political landscape in Maharashtra has become increasingly contentious following the emergence of an objectionable video involving Minister Narhari Jirwal. Both the opposition and the ruling party’s ally, Shiv Sena, have called for his resignation.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC responded to the situation, stating that Narhari Jirwal has previously been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Earlier, his office was implicated in a corruption scandal, and now this new video has surfaced. She emphasized that he should resign on moral grounds until the investigation is concluded.
During her remarks, Shaina NC also addressed the rising inflation and fuel prices in the country. She pointed out that global conflicts have repercussions for every nation. Currently, petrol prices are around ₹94 per liter, while a 14 kg LPG cylinder costs ₹913.
She noted that the government has implemented the Essential Commodities Act to ensure a regular supply of LPG to households. Additionally, beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) are receiving a subsidy of ₹300. Shaina NC mentioned that the government is actively working to eliminate black marketing.
On the issue of women’s safety, she expressed serious concerns. She highlighted that various cases, including the Kharat case, have raised questions about safety. It is crucial to ensure that cultural values are protected and that strict action is taken against wrongdoers.
Regarding the Ashok Kharat case, Shaina NC condemned his actions, labeling him a criminal. She revealed that the government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to address the matter. She urged the public to come forward with any videos or information related to exploitation, so that perpetrators can face severe punishment. It is essential to expose those with a distorted mindset in society.
Speaking on women’s empowerment, Shaina NC referred to ‘Nari Shakti’ as the new history of the nation. She mentioned that discussions about 33% reservation for women through the Women’s Reservation Bill have been ongoing, but now women are being viewed not just as symbols but are being given real opportunities.
She stated that women are increasingly participating in decision-making processes across various sectors, including safety, health, education, and employment. Shaina NC praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for their efforts to uplift women, noting that ‘ladki behan’ is now receiving opportunities nationwide.
