Congress Ready to Negotiate Seat Distribution in UP Elections, Says SP MP Jiyaur Rahman Bark

Jiyaur Rahman Bark discusses Congress seat demands for UP elections, emphasizing a focus on winnable constituencies.

Sambhal, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : In Sambhal, SP MP Jiyaur Rahman Bark recently addressed the ongoing discussions regarding seat distribution for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He indicated that the Congress party would be allocated seats based on its potential to win. “A decision on this matter will soon be made public,” he stated.

Commenting on the bail granted to CJP spokespersons Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, Bark expressed his respect for the judiciary at all levels, from the High Court to the Supreme Court. He stressed the importance of upholding the rights of all citizens, regardless of age, to peacefully protest against any injustices in the country. “Every citizen has the constitutional right to voice their concerns against the government or police administration, as long as it is within the law,” he added.

Bark further questioned why he and others are being asked for clarification regarding their protests. He emphasized that the focus should be on understanding how the situation escalated to its current state, rather than justifying their actions. “It is surprising that those who have criticized the government are now being questioned,” he remarked, asserting that if the intent behind the protests is legitimate, there should be no need for justification.

Regarding the UP Assembly elections, Bark expressed optimism about coalition talks, suggesting that the Samajwadi Party and Congress will contest together under the ‘Indi’ alliance. He mentioned having positive discussions with Akhilesh Yadav, noting that the Samajwadi Party remains the strongest alternative to the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.

Bark explained that the alliance strategy for the Assembly elections would mirror that of the Lok Sabha elections, aiming to defeat the BJP and establish a government that is inclusive. He acknowledged that negotiations over seat sharing take time, as they are essentially agreements that require careful deliberation. “Not everything can be resolved immediately. Answers will be provided soon,” he assured.

He concluded by stating that while there are questions regarding Congress’s seat demands, the Samajwadi Party believes that the distribution should reflect the Congress party’s chances of winning. Discussions on this topic are ongoing.
