Amaravati, March 7: Y.S. Sharmila Reddy, the head of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, has strongly criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s recent statement about offering a financial incentive of 25,000 rupees to families that have more children. Sharmila highlighted the dire state of the current situation in Andhra Pradesh, calling the promise absurd, especially when the youth are struggling to find jobs and secure their futures.
Sharmila pointed out that the condition of Andhra Pradesh is quite pitiable. Neighboring states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra boast strong capitals such as Bengaluru, Chennai, and Mumbai, which are rich in development and facilities. In contrast, Andhra Pradesh lacks a decent capital. The people of the state are left empty-handed, without a solid foundation. She questioned where the children in the state would find jobs and what their future holds. Many young graduates are wandering the streets, forced to drive autos or take up small jobs to make ends meet. Who is paying attention to their struggles? There is no security or assurance for their future.
Targeting the Chief Minister, Sharmila stated that Naidu claims two children are not enough and encourages families to have three, four, or even five children. If the current children lack direction and support, why promote having more? She criticized the CM’s assertion that families would receive 25,000 rupees for having more children. Is the intention to have children merely for the sake of this money? Sharmila raised concerns about the government’s policies, noting that the Aarogyasri health scheme has an outstanding debt of 3,000 crores, and the reimbursement scheme has a backlog of 6,000 crores. Since Naidu became Chief Minister, electricity rates have increased, placing an additional burden of 15,000 crores on the people within just two years.
Despite all this, the CM continues to suggest that having more children is the solution, offering 25,000 rupees in return. Sharmila urged the public to reflect on the kind of leaders governing the state. She emphasized that this promise is an attempt to divert attention from the real issues facing the state. The Congress leader pledged that her party would bring better policies focused on jobs, health, and education for the youth and families of the state.
