New Delhi, Mar 7 : Congress is likely to make a comeback in the Uttarakhand government as the latest post-poll survey predicts the grand old party to win a clear majority in the state. According to the C-Voter exit poll projections, out of 70 seats in the state, Congress may bag between 32 to 38 while the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may get a range of 26 and 32 seats in the assembly polls of 2022. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which just made its debut in the state, could bag 0-2 assembly seats. Others, including the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), may get between 3 and 7 seats. The BSP may get 3 seats, according to the post-poll survey. Congress which made government in the state previously in 2012 is giving a tough fight to the ruling BJP in Kumaon and seems to be leading in Tarai. In the Kumaon region of the state, Congress appears to be in the lead with a projected number of 11-13 seats, followed closely by the BJP with 7-9 seats. The AAP does not seem to have any ground in Kumaon and may bag just 1 seat. While the BJP and the Congress seem to be head-to-head in Kumaon, in the Garhwal region, BJP looks to be leading with 14-16 seats in the C-Voter Uttarkhand Exit Poll. Congress may bag only 12-14 seats. However, in the Tarai region or plains, the Congress seems to be leading with 9-11 seats, and the BJP could get 5-7 seats.
