Mumbai, May 6: Congress leader Hussain Dalwai has reacted sharply to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s comments regarding ‘Sanatan Dharma.’ He stated that Sanatan Dharma is not the religion of all people in the country.
Following the BJP’s victory in West Bengal, Yogi Adityanath claimed that those who insult Sanatan Dharma would face consequences. He asserted that the opponents of Sanatan would be thoroughly defeated.
In response, Dalwai emphasized, “Sanatan Dharma is not the religion of all people. Hinduism is distinct from Sanatan Dharma. Hinduism has a vast tradition of saints and sages, especially in Maharashtra. Hinduism is a liberal faith, while Sanatan Dharma is associated with the caste system, which is upheld by its followers.”
Dalwai also commented on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s refusal to resign after the electoral defeat. He remarked, “Legally, she should resign. If she does not, it is unclear what her next steps will be. It is commendable that Rahul Gandhi has supported her. He has also stated that the ‘India’ alliance will be strengthened, meaning all opposition parties must unite to fight across the country.”
However, Hussain Dalwai praised Mamata Banerjee and supported the allegations against the Election Commission. He stated, “It is not that she lost; she was defeated through various manipulations. The Election Commission is responsible for this. The Chief Election Commissioner should be removed, and an investigation should be conducted against him.”
He further warned, “If the country continues in this manner, we will not have a constitution or democracy; we will have fascism. The RSS is spreading fascism.”
