Murshidabad, August 28: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has criticized the central government over the BJP’s “Echo of Lies” campaign, the devastating disaster in Nepal, and allegations of a sugar scam. He claimed that the BJP fears Rahul Gandhi, which is why they continue their campaign against him. Chowdhury urged for an acceleration of relief and rescue operations in Nepal and emphasized the need to seriously consider the impacts of climate change.
In response to the launch of the “Echo of Lies” website countering Rahul Gandhi’s “Echo of Students” initiative, Chowdhury stated that the BJP is intimidated by Gandhi. Despite having significant organizational strength, resources, and money, the fear of Gandhi is troubling the BJP. He asserted that the BJP knows that sooner or later, Rahul Gandhi could force them out of power. Chowdhury accused the BJP of misleading the public and spreading falsehoods against Gandhi, predicting that Gandhi will become the Prime Minister in the future.
Chowdhury expressed deep concern over the severe disaster in Nepal. He noted that natural events such as earthquakes, avalanches, and landslides have created a critical situation in large parts of the country. Many pilgrims and tourists traveling to Kailash Mansarovar use this route, raising concerns about the potential impact on a significant number of people.
He pointed out that the route to Mansarovar from India passes through Nepal, as Mansarovar is located in Chinese territory. The disaster has affected both Nepal and China, but there has been relatively little information coming from the Chinese side regarding the incident. Chowdhury appealed to the central government to provide all possible relief and assistance to Nepal, expressing sympathy for the affected families and stating that India should make every effort to help its neighboring country.
Linking the disaster in Nepal to climate change, Chowdhury remarked that there has been ongoing discussion about changing weather patterns and climate change globally. There are concerns that climate change plays a role in such natural disasters. He stressed the need for more attention and serious efforts on this issue, warning that without timely action, such disasters could repeatedly disrupt lives.
Regarding the allegations of a sugar scam, Chowdhury stated that the Congress raises complaints based on facts and evidence. He noted that the sugar scam has led to rising sugar prices in the market, and the increasing prices of onions are also causing distress for the public. He accused the government of failing to take effective steps to control prices. Chowdhury remarked that while the government occasionally makes statements, there is a lack of effective action on the ground, which is affecting the common people.
