Ahmedabad, February 22: BJP leader Rohan Gupta has responded sharply to Congress leader Gurdeep Sapal’s defense of the protests by Youth Congress activists at the AI Summit. Gupta accused the Congress of trivializing anti-national activities by labeling them as youthful enthusiasm.

Sapal had defended the protests, stating that the youth sometimes get carried away. The Indian Youth Congress shared a picture of Mahatma Gandhi, proclaiming their lineage as Gandhi’s descendants, asserting that they will continue to fight for their cause.

In an interview, Gupta expressed his dismay, stating it is unfortunate that such disgraceful actions are being downplayed as mere youthful exuberance. He emphasized that the AI Summit was not an ordinary platform but an international stage. He claimed that the Youth Congress could not have acted without the approval of the party’s top leadership.

“This is the first time politics has overshadowed national interests, and Congress has shown it is willing to compromise the country’s reputation for its survival. If they do not apologize, the nation will respond,” Gupta stated.

He further criticized the Congress for attempting to hide its shame behind Gandhi’s image after committing wrongdoings. “Mahatma Gandhi fought for the nation. At the AI Summit, global companies are aligning with India, showcasing our strength. Now that Congress is facing backlash, they want to hide behind Gandhi’s photo. They must apologize to the public, or the nation will never forgive them,” he added.

Gupta also addressed comments from Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, reminding him that the public has not forgotten the sins of his administration, which was marked by daily violence. He urged Yadav to understand the development in Ayodhya instead of opposing the Ram Temple. “The Samajwadi Party has no issues left to discuss; they have gone too far into appeasement politics, even opposing the Kumbh Mela. The public will hold them accountable for their misdeeds,” Gupta concluded.
