New Delhi, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Kumari Selja has launched a scathing attack on the central government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the recent FIR filed against Rahul Gandhi and the handling of the ‘purification’ case. Selja highlighted the party’s plans for a protest in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, in response to what she described as selective governmental actions.
Selja noted that an FIR was swiftly filed against Gandhi, while no action has been taken on a related matter despite a letter from Mallikarjun Kharge, the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha. She asserted that the government’s actions appear biased and accused the BJP of imposing its ideology on the people.
Questioning the delay in the arrest of independent activist Bharat Bhardwaj, Selja expressed concerns about the fairness of the government’s actions. She emphasized that citizens should have confidence that the law applies equally to everyone and that the government stands for justice.
Regarding the protests by Hindu organizations demanding Bharat Bhardwaj’s release, Selja criticized the BJP and RSS ideologies, asking how far society would be divided by such extremist forces.
On the upcoming book by Sonia Gandhi, Selja defended her integrity, stating that whatever Gandhi expresses will be done with honesty and truth. Congress leader Sachin Pilot also commented on the book, suggesting that the publication company might have faced pressure to delay its release. He emphasized the importance of Gandhi’s political and personal contributions to India and the Congress party.
Pilot expressed relief that another publisher has agreed to release the book and stressed the need for freedom to present historical and factual events.
On Teacher’s Day, Pilot criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Shri Ram College of Commerce, suggesting that the BJP government is only now concerned about students and teachers due to growing discontent among the youth. He accused the government of being anti-student and anti-youth due to issues like paper leaks and exam mismanagement.
He highlighted the need for accountability from the government if it fails to conduct exams properly and provide timely results, raising concerns about the treatment of student protests and calling for answers regarding recent student movements in Bihar.
