New Delhi, April 10 : Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday appointed Karan Mahara as the president of Uttarakhand Congress. The appointment comes days after the Congress President had sought the resignation of state Congress presidents of the five states which recently went to poll, after a poor performance by the party in all states. The Congress t chief in Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu, Ganesh Godiyal in Uttarakhand, Ajay Kumar Lallu in Uttar Pradesh, Girish Chodankar in Goa and Loken Singh in Manipur had resigned after the polls. In the recent assembly polls, Congress lost Punjab to Aam Aadmi Party while Bharatiya Janata Party won Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. AO SHK2106
