Tumakuru, May 19: Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress President DK Shivakumar asserted on Tuesday that the party will reclaim power in the 2028 assembly elections. He claimed that the party’s guarantee schemes have transformed people’s lives and set a precedent for the entire nation.
While addressing the ‘Sarthak Seva Samarpan’ conference in Tumakuru, marking three years of the Congress government in the state, Shivakumar noted that the public has shown trust in Congress by electing 136 legislators. He emphasized that the state government has fulfilled its promises.
Shivakumar confidently stated that Congress will return to power in Karnataka in 2028, urging leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) to take heed, and reminding the public to remember this.
He praised the state government’s five guarantee schemes, asserting that even the BJP and other regional parties are now imitating Congress’s welfare model in various states.
“Our guarantee schemes have become a benchmark for the entire country,” Shivakumar remarked. “Initially criticized, today every political party is emulating them.”
He referenced a study conducted by Oxford University, which lauded Karnataka’s guarantee schemes for bringing social change to the lives of the poor, labeling them a global model.
Shivakumar explained that these schemes were initiated to assist ordinary citizens grappling with rising prices and declining incomes.
He further highlighted the soaring prices of essential goods and the decrease in people’s earnings, stating, “We launched guarantee schemes to support the common citizen.”
Shivakumar also targeted the BJP-led central government over rising fuel prices and inflation. He accused them of remaining silent on these pressing issues, as petrol prices continue to climb and the rupee weakens, leaving citizens struggling with increasing costs.
