Panaji, March 9 : To protect its candidates from possible poaching, the Congress has deployed its senior leader D K Shivkumar in Goa. Since morning, Congress had put its candidates in a resort near the capital city. However, they were shifted to a hotel at Margao in South Goa. However, Congress Spokesperson Amarnath Panajikar said that there was no restriction on movement of the candidates and their mobile phones were on. “We are meeting to discuss tomorrow’s counting strategy, forming a government. It’s not that they are locked. They are free. Their mobiles are one, you can check,” the Congress leader told . Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram briefed the Congress-Goa Forward Party (GFP) candidates at a meeting convened at a hotel in Margao in South Goa. Besides Shivkumar, Congress Goa Desk Incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao was also camping in the hotel. This was the first time that Congress was guarding its candidates in this fashion. The principal opposition party has lost 13 MLAs to BJP during the last four years. Counting of votes will take place tomorrow. AKM RJ
