Communal violence in MP, prohibitory orders imposed

Khargone/Barwani (MP), Apr 10 : Prohibitory orders were imposed on Sunday in Khargone district headquarters following arson, stone-pelting and other disturbances. “Police used tear gas to bring the situation under control after stones were pelted prior to commencement of a Ram Navami procession at Talab Chowk,” Sub-Divisional Magistrate Milind Dhoke confirmed. In the evening, stones were allegedly hurled at a crowd of devotees heading to participate in the main procession on Jogwada Road in Barwani’s Sendhwa town. A stampede ensued and property was damaged at a location in Mausam crossing. Meanwhile, two groups faced off at Jai Hind and Kranti chowks. Subsequently, half-a-dozen persons – including Town Inspector Baldev Mujalda and another cop – sustained injuries, police said. Collector Shivraj Singh Verma and Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Shukla have reached the place. Additional force has been stationed in both towns. Team-AC
