Commitment to users remains intact: Google after CCI fine

New Delhi : Google, the world’s largest Internet search engine company, said it remains committed to its commitment to users and developers. It is reviewing the decision of the Competition Commission of India (CCI), after which it will consider further steps. In fact, CCI had imposed a fine of ₹936.44 crore on Google.

Google, in its official response issued on Wednesday following the CCI order, said its commitment to users and developers remains. It is reviewing the CCI’s decision, after which it will consider further steps. The CCI has imposed this fine on Google for unfair trade in relation to the policies of the Play Store. A company spokesperson said, “We kept the prices low, allowing our model to drive the digital transformation of India and reach millions of Indians.

It is noteworthy that this is the second time within a week, when the CCI has taken such a big action against Google. The CCI fined Google ₹936.44 crore for abusing its dominant position in Play Store policies. Earlier on October 20, the regulator imposed a fine of ₹1,337.76 crore on Google for abusing its dominant position in multiple markets with respect to Android mobile devices.
