Cold Wave Intensifies Across Rajasthan Due to Northern Winds

Jaipur, January 18 : Rajasthan is reeling under severe cold as icy northern winds have gripped the state, leaving residents struggling with biting chill and dense fog. On Saturday, many regions woke up to a foggy morning, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for dense fog in 14 districts. The minimum temperature in Mount Abu was recorded at 0.8ยฐC, making it one of the coldest places in the state.

Cold Wave Grips the State

According to the Jaipur Meteorological Center, the last 24 hours saw dense fog and cold-day conditions in parts of Bikaner, Jaipur, Kota, and Bharatpur divisions. Dholpur also experienced light rainfall, with 2mm precipitation recorded.

Most parts of Rajasthan are expected to experience dry weather over the next three to four days. However, from January 21, a new western disturbance is predicted to become active, bringing light rainfall to northwestern and northeastern Rajasthan. This could intensify the cold further.

Impact of Upcoming Western Disturbance

From January 22, the western disturbance is expected to bring significant changes to the stateโ€™s weather. Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in districts of Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions, according to the Jaipur Meteorological Center.
