Cold Wave Alert Issued for Rajasthan as Chilly Winds Sweep from North India
Jaipur, February 7 : Rajasthan is experiencing a fresh wave of cold as icy winds from North India continue to lower temperatures across the state. Cities like Ajmer, Kota, and Baran witnessed a significant drop in temperature on Thursday.
According to weather experts, Rajasthan will continue to experience cold weather for the next 48 hours. However, from February 9 onwards, temperatures are expected to rise, bringing relief from the harsh morning and evening chills.
As per the Meteorological Department, cold winds swept across Jaipur, Sikar, Dausa, Alwar, Jhunjhunu, and Churu on Thursday, causing daytime temperatures to remain low. Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 24.2ยฐC, Sikar 22ยฐC, Churu 24.1ยฐC, Alwar 21.8ยฐC, and Jhunjhunu 23.9ยฐC.
Minimum temperatures in Ajmer, Baran, and Kota saw a decline of up to 3ยฐC, with Kota recording 8.3ยฐC, Ajmer 9.1ยฐC, and Baran dropping to a chilling 5.8ยฐC.
Border districts, including Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Sriganganagar, Jalore, and Jodhpur, also felt the impact of the northern winds. Barmer recorded a maximum temperature of 28.8ยฐC, Jaisalmer 25.9ยฐC, Jodhpur 26.8ยฐC, Bikaner 25.3ยฐC, and Ganganagar 23.8ยฐC. Despite sunshine, cold winds persisted throughout the day.
The Jaipur Meteorological Center has predicted that the cold wave will last until February 8, particularly affecting Jaipur, Bikaner, and Bharatpur divisions.
However, from February 9, northern winds will lose their impact, leading to a gradual increase in temperature, bringing relief from the cold. The weather is expected to remain dry across the state until February 12-13, with clear skies and bright sunshine dominating the days in the upcoming week.
