September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Coach Peter Wilson expressed immense pride in Neeru’s performance during her recent gold medal win at the Asian Games. He emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and not succumbing to pressure, even when the stakes were high.
During the competition, Wilson noted that the atmosphere was tense as participants moved in groups of ten, then split into smaller groups of five. “In that moment, all they needed was one more target to secure the gold,” he said. However, he felt it was unfair when a yellow card was issued for taking too much time, especially since the timer had started prematurely. After raising his concerns to the jury, the timer was adjusted, allowing Neeru to regain her composure.
Wilson praised Neeru’s calmness throughout the event. “She handled herself remarkably well and executed her shots flawlessly,” he remarked. He also highlighted the critical mindset needed before the final. It was essential not to let the pressure of the occasion weigh heavily on her, despite her top qualification ranking.
“Stay focused and concentrate on one target at a time,” Wilson advised. “It sounds simple, but it’s challenging in practice. There are always distractions, but you must bring your attention back to the present moment. Live in the now and focus on one target at a time.”
