Patna, February 9: Central Minister Chirag Paswan has criticized the Congress Party’s protests against the arrest of Pappu Yadav, a Member of Parliament from Purnia. He accused the opposition of politicizing the issue.
During a media interaction in Patna, Paswan remarked that Pappu Yadav is the same individual whom the so-called ‘Indi Alliance’ aimed to defeat during the Lok Sabha elections. He noted that leaders from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Tejashwi Yadav had even suggested that voters should choose the NDA if necessary. However, Paswan pointed out that the opposition is now expressing undue concern for Yadav, revealing their political motives. “Everyone knows that the opposition has different agendas for show and for action. They simply want to politicize this matter,” he stated.
Responding to Tejashwi Yadav’s comments, Paswan emphasized that making accusations against others will not benefit him. He added that when one accuses others, they should also reflect on their own actions. “If you are genuinely concerned, as a leader of the opposition, it is your responsibility to be accountable. If there are issues you are aware of, speak up. Those who avoid the assembly proceedings and travel abroad during sessions cannot expect to make an impact through political animosity,” he asserted.
In relation to the recent death of a NEET student, Paswan acknowledged that everyone has the right to express their anger and emotions. However, he assured that the government is committed to ensuring that anyone found guilty will face severe punishment to prevent future incidents. He highlighted the government’s decisions, from forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to initiating a CBI inquiry, as clear evidence of their resolve to deliver justice.
