
Beijing, June 13: From January to May this year, Chinese railways provided transportation services to 1.969 billion passengers. This figure marks a 5.7% increase compared to the same period last year, reaching a historic high for this timeframe.
On May 1, a record-breaking 24.844 million passengers were transported in a single day. Cross-border passenger transport has shown sustained activity, with the China-Laos Railway and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Railway reporting increases of 35% and 14.5%, respectively, in cross-border passenger numbers.
The railway department has made active efforts to improve services, including special tourist trains, quiet carriages, and pet transportation services. Additionally, measures have been implemented to facilitate travel for foreign passengers in coordination with national policies.
