
Beijing, February 17: Chinese President Xi Jinping has continued his tradition of connecting with ordinary citizens during the Spring Festival. Since 2012, he has made it a point to meet with the public before the festival, listening to their concerns and understanding their situations.
On February 10 this year, President Xi visited the Longfu Block in the capital, Beijing, where he extended Spring Festival greetings to city residents and various ethnic groups from across the country. He wished all Chinese people, both at home and abroad, good health, successful careers, and family happiness.
The President also toured the ‘Wulao-Xinchie’ senior citizen residential center on Xinchieko Street in Beijing, home to 119 elderly residents. He emphasized that respecting the elderly is a traditional moral value of the Chinese nation and a responsibility of society as a whole. During his visit, he also met with children, encouraging them to engage in physical activities and maintain good health.
Additionally, Xi visited the Spring Festival market on Longfu Business Street, where he interacted with vendors and citizens, purchasing some local products and cultural items. He instructed officials to ensure the livelihoods of the people and maintain safety, allowing everyone to celebrate the festival joyfully.
The President took the time to inquire about the work and lives of three courier workers present, appreciating their contributions. He noted that these workers are essential for the smooth operation of cities.
In recent years, President Xi has consistently met with ordinary citizens before the Spring Festival, particularly focusing on the elderly, children, and those facing difficulties. These visits reflect his deep concern and dedication to the people.
He stated that the happiness of every family and the joy of people of all ages represent the most beautiful picture of the country. He called on everyone to work together to make this picture even more beautiful.
According to President Xi, the nurturing and education of children, employment and development of youth, and medical care and support for the elderly are not just family matters but also national issues. We must all strive to address these matters effectively.
President Xi’s Spring Festival visits embody the principle of “people first.” By consistently engaging with the public, he ensures that their needs and aspirations are understood and addressed. This demonstrates his deep commitment and dedication to the people.
