Beijing, February 23: The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce addressed a reporter’s question regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on tariff cases. He stated that China is closely monitoring the ruling and assessing its implications.
China has consistently opposed unilateral tariff increases, emphasizing that no one wins in a trade war and that protectionism yields no benefits. The U.S.’s unilateral actions, such as reciprocal tariffs and fentanyl tariffs, violate international trade regulations and domestic laws, harming the interests of both parties. Evidence repeatedly shows that cooperation between China and the U.S. benefits both sides, while confrontation leads to losses for both.
China has appealed to the U.S. to eliminate unilateral tariffs imposed on its trading partners. Additionally, China has noted that the U.S. is preparing to take further measures, such as trade investigations, to maintain these tariffs. China will remain vigilant and firmly protect its interests.
