Chief Minister Khemchand Visits Sinai Camp in Kangpokpi, Manipur
Manipurs CM Khemchand Singh inspects Sinai Camp, emphasizing peace and safety after recent violence.

Kangpokpi, October 25 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Yumkham Khemchand Singh visited the Sinai Camp in Kangpokpi district on Sunday. This camp was recently taken over by the CRPF following a joint operation with Manipur police and other security agencies. The operation aimed to disarm the camp, which was linked to designated terrorists under the Suspension of Operations (SO) agreement.
The initiative was prompted by the tragic killings of three innocent wood collectors in Nongsham, located in the eastern Imphal district. During the inspection, only 17 individuals were found using fake identities, posing as registered SO cadres, despite the camp reportedly accommodating around 150 cadres.
The Sinai Camp was previously associated with the Kuki National Army (KNA) and the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA), both of which are part of the SO agreement. This marks the first visit by a sitting chief minister to such a camp.
Upon arrival, Khemchand Singh inspected the entire camp and received briefings from CRPF and Assam Rifles officials about ongoing operations and the current law and order situation in the area. He commended the bravery and valor of the CRPF’s Cobra Battalion, emphasizing the importance of conducting search operations without harming innocent civilians.
Khemchand urged security personnel to prioritize the protection of lives and property. He noted that as long as a culture of violence persists, Manipur cannot achieve progress or lasting peace. He called on the state’s residents to abandon violence, surrender illegal weapons, and unite to restore peace and harmony.
Later, he engaged with civil society organizations and local villagers. The visit was attended by senior officials, including IG Homekar Amol Vinukant from the CRPF (M&N) sector, IG Kamei Angam Roman from Manipur police, DIG N. Herojit Meitei, DIG Rajesh Kumar from CRPF, Colonel Radha Krishnan from Assam Rifles, and the district commissioner of Kangpokpi, among others.
