Change of guard is Pak’s internal matter, Indian Army is on alert: GOC 16 Corps

Jammu, April 13 : The General-Officer-Commanding Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh on Wednesday said that the change of guard in neighbouring Pakistan is their internal matter but the Indian Army is always on alert and maintaining vigil along the Line of Control. “The internal situation in Pakistan and the situation on the LoC are two different things. I don’t like to comment on this as it’s Pakistan’s internal matter,” General Singh told reporters on the sidelines of ‘Rajouri Day’ function in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. “The LoC is a duty to be guarded by the Army and Army is fully in control of ensuring that no infiltration takes place on the LoC and we do not get impacted by the internal situation in Pakistan,” said the GOC. On recent grenade incidents in Kotranka (Rajouri) and Udhampur he said, “whenever and wherever peace is restored, it is not digested by the enemy.” “They (anti-national elements) make attempts to disrupt peace. Such sporadic incidents of grenade attacks are cowardly acts for which one does not require courage.” “But if we collectively make efforts to restore peace and foil such nefarious designs, I am sure that these inimical elements will not succeed in their plans,” he said, adding that misguided youth can also be brought back to join the mainstream. However, on training camps across the LoC, Lt Gen Singh said, “Pakistan is still trying to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir and may activate training camps across the LoC but we are monitoring every situation and are on alert.” The GOC further said that the number of terrorists is an assessment and it keeps on varying, adding, “In 2021 and 2022, there were minor variations and no threat of large number of terrorists assembling in camps and launching pads.” On drone threat he said, “it is a challenge but incidents of drone dropping were mostly reported along the International Border where BSF is actively countering them,” adding, “the area of jurisdiction of White Knight Corps in Rajouri-Poonch and for us Pakistan is a challenge. We are on high alert and a tight security grid is also well in place.” VBH SHK1938
