Jaipur : Lieutenant General JB Chaudhari today handed over command of the prestigious Chetak Corps to Lieutenant General Sanjiv Rai at Bathinda Military Station after a successful tenure of more than a year.
During his farewell address on the eve of handing over the command, the General Officer Commanding complimented all ranks of the Chetak Corps for their commitment, zeal and loyalty to the organisation. He urged them to continue to strive for professional excellence and hone soldierly skills aligning with the requirements of the future, to integrate technology and adapt to the challenges of a complex future battlefield milieu and social environment. The General Officer Commanding felt that empathy and kindness, coupled with a firm resolve and a desire to deliver, towards the organization are the basic tenets of leadership. He added that with the larger goal in mind each soldier must ensure commitment to the service.
During his tenure, he emphasised on maintaining a high threshold of operational readiness to enable fulfillment of any challenge that may present itself in the future. He has constantly maintained that the success in operations will depend on a positive and offensive attitude, continued force modernization, excellence in training, security consciousness, earnest work culture and focused Human Resource management. Infusion of technology, operation-oriented training and development of modern infrastructure were his focus areas, as he strived to make the Chetak Corps excel in all fields.
Lieutenant General Sanjiv Rai took over the command of Chetak Corps as the 33nd General Officer Commanding. The General Officer was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry and is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy Khadakwasla, Pune, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, College of Combat, Mhow, DSSC, Wellington, College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad and National Defence College, New Delhi. The General Officer has vast and varied operational experience of serving in various challenging environments. The General Officer commanded a Infantry Battalion on Western borders, Infantry Brigade and Infantry Division on the Northern borders. He has also been an instructor at Indian Military Academy Dehradun, Indian Military Training Team Bhutan and Adjutant, National Defecne Academy Khadakwasla Pune. Before taking over the command of Chetak Corps, he was Military Secretary to the President of India. During his long service, he has been awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.
After taking over the command of the prestigious Chetak Corps, the General Officer Commanding conveyed his best wishes to veernaris, veterans, all serving personnel and families of the Corps.
