Jaunpur, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : Chandrashekhar Azad, the leader of the Azad Samaj Party, has made significant announcements regarding the party’s strategy for the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He stated that the party will contest independently, having already appointed 45 coordinators, with plans to unveil hundreds more soon.
In a recent statement, Azad launched a scathing attack on the opposition, claiming that their fear lies not with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but with the emergence of new leadership from the Dalit and backward classes. He accused them of lacking genuine intent to defeat the BJP.
Azad emphasized that the preparations for the elections in Uttar Pradesh are robust. He noted that following the 2022 elections, the party faced challenges in effectively contesting across the state. To strengthen their position, they have appointed 45 coordinators and are encouraging grassroots efforts to demonstrate their popularity. Reports from local organizations are expected by the 20th of this month, which may lead to the announcement of additional coordinators.
Reflecting on past elections, Azad recalled the opposition’s attempts to form alliances against the BJP in 2017 and 2022, both of which ended in failure. He pointed out that these alliances were insufficient to overcome the BJP’s significant voter share, indicating a need for a more extensive coalition to challenge the ruling party effectively.
Azad expressed his desire for a broad-based alliance but expressed skepticism about the opposition’s willingness to unite. He believes their real fear is not the BJP but the possibility of new, strong leadership emerging that could disrupt their political standing. He criticized those who speak about defeating the BJP while focusing on local elections instead of addressing broader issues facing the state and the nation.
In addressing the opposition, Azad raised questions about their commitment to genuine change, citing their lack of action during significant protests. He highlighted the dedication of his party members who stood firm for three nights in the rain to support movements, contrasting it with the opposition’s inaction.
