CBI files case against postal official for misappropriation of Rs 1.62 cr

New Delhi, March 9 : The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against the then Sub Postmaster posted at Chintapalli Post Office in Telangana on the allegations of misappropriation of Rs 1.62 crore. According to a statement by CBI, the accused received reports in respect of Social Security Pension Accounts from the Branch Post Offices (BPMs), including Gadia Gowraram Branch, Injamur Branch, Kurmapalli Branch, Nasarlapalli Branch, Madanapur Branch, Takkalapalli Branch and Kurmed Branch. The accused allegedly exaggerated the said reports by changing the amounts in reports of BPMs in his computer ID and shown as if the above said Branch Post Offices had generated the reports, thus misappropriating Rs 1,62,50,000, said a CBI spokesperson. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused in Devarkonda, Nalgonda (Telangana). CM RJ
