Mumbai, April 6 : Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was on Wednesday arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with corruption allegations raised against him by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. Deshmukh, presently lodged in Arthur Road Jail for his involvement in money laundering, was serve an arrest warrant by a team of CBI which visited in the morning and he was placed under arrest, the official said. In a related development, the Bombay High Court has refused to hear Deshmukh’s plea challenging a special court order allowing the CBI to take him into custody. Deshmukh had also challenged the application filed by the CBI seeking his custody. The senior NCP leader’s plea was listed for hearing before a single bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere but the court expressed its inability to hear it. AAA MR
