Casio has introduced the updated G-Shock DW-5900U series in the UK, expanding availability of its refreshed digital watches. The new DW-5900UBB-1 and DW-5900U-1 models were first released in Japan earlier this year and are updated versions of the 2018 DW-5900BB-1 and DW-5900-1.
Both models are now available for purchase through Casio’s official UK online store, priced at £80 each, with free delivery expected within two to four working days. Casio also indicated that these watches may soon be available at its London physical store, although in-store availability has not yet been confirmed.
The DW-5900U series emphasizes internal upgrades over major design changes. Both watches feature the newer 3536 module, replacing the older 3465 module used in the previous generation. A significant enhancement is the shift from an electroluminescent backlight to a high brightness LED backlight. These improvements contribute to better power efficiency and extend the battery life from five to ten years.
The DW-5900U-1 retains the classic look of the original series, sporting a black resin case with red and blue accents and a standard light background digital display. In contrast, the DW-5900UBB-1 opts for a minimalist all-black design with a matte finish and a black background digital display, eliminating coloured highlights.
Both watches maintain the signature DW-5900 face layout, featuring three digital graph indicators across the top of the dial and a larger main display below. Their key functions include world time, a countdown timer, a 1/100 second stopwatch, and support for five daily alarms.
Casio has not yet announced plans for releasing the DW-5900UBB-1 and DW-5900U-1 models in other European countries or markets such as the United States.
