Capitals Halt RCB’s Winning Streak with 7-Wicket Win in WPL

Vadodara: Delhi Capitals stopped Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) winning streak in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 by defeating them by 7 wickets in the 15th match of the season held at BCA Stadium on Saturday.

This victory marked Delhi Capitals’ third win in six matches this season, elevating them to the second position on the points table. On the other hand, RCB suffered their first defeat after winning five consecutive matches, although they had already qualified for the next stage.

RCB’s Batting Struggle

After losing the toss, RCB elected to bat but were restricted to 109 runs. Grace Harris and captain Smriti Mandhana shared a brief 36-run partnership in 5.3 overs. Harris scored 9 runs before getting out, while Mandhana contributed 38 runs off 34 balls, including one six and six fours. Georgia Voll added 11 runs, and Radha Yadav chipped in with 18 runs. From the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack, Nandini Sharma took the most wickets, claiming three, while Chinelle Henry, Marijan Kapp, and Minnu Mani took two wickets each.

Delhi Capitals’ Strong Response

In reply, Delhi Capitals achieved the target in 15.4 overs. They lost early wickets of openers Shafali Verma (16) and Lizelle Lee (6) at 24 runs. Laura Wolvaardt then anchored the innings, putting on a 52-run partnership with captain Jemimah Rodrigues over 49 balls. Jemimah scored 24 runs from 26 balls, hitting four boundaries before getting out. Wolvaardt, along with Marijan Kapp, added an unbroken 35-run stand to secure an easy win for Capitals. From RCB’s bowlers, Sayali Satghare took two wickets while Radha Yadav claimed one.

This result not only halted RCB’s winning momentum but also strengthened Delhi Capitals’ position in the tournament standings.
