Bus Drivers Tragic Suicide Shocks Hubli Community

A bus driver in Hubli took his own life, with his body transported in the same bus he drove, leaving the community in mourning.

Hubli, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Hubli, Karnataka, where a bus driver tragically took his own life at the NWKRTC Rural Unit-1 depot. The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Manjunath. The most poignant aspect of this tragedy is that after the postmortem, his body was transported back to his hometown in the very bus he operated.

Manjunath hailed from Mundawada village in the Gadag district and had been working as a driver at the Hubli depot for several years. On Saturday, he was present at the depot when he decided to hang himself from a tree located within the premises. This shocking act sent ripples of panic through the depot.

His colleagues immediately alerted the police, who arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. The body was taken down and sent for postmortem. Later that night, following the completion of the autopsy and with the consent of the transport corporation and his family, Manjunath’s remains were placed in the same bus for the journey back to Mundawada. This final ride moved everyone present to tears.

The reasons behind Manjunath’s suicide remain unclear, as no suicide note was found at the scene. Family members stated that he had not expressed any issues at home or work, making this act particularly shocking for them.

Manjunath’s wife and two children live in Hubli and are devastated by the loss. The police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Whether the cause was family-related, work pressure, or something else entirely will be determined as the investigation unfolds.
