
New Delhi, May 30: A tragic incident occurred in the Saket area of New Delhi, where a portion of a building suddenly collapsed. This event took place near the Saket Metro Station, causing widespread panic in the vicinity. Authorities fear that several individuals may be trapped under the debris. Rescue operations have been intensified.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her deep concern on social media, stating, “I am extremely worried about the building collapse near Saket Metro Station. Teams from NDRF, Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, DDMA, MCD, CATS, and Civil Defense are conducting rescue operations at war footing. Every possible effort is being made to safely rescue those trapped in the debris and provide immediate assistance to affected families. The situation is being closely monitored, and all relevant agencies are working in coordination. The safety and well-being of every citizen is our top priority.”
The Delhi Fire Service received a call around 7:44 PM on Saturday, prompting an immediate dispatch of fire tenders to the scene. Subsequently, relief and rescue operations commenced swiftly.
NDRF teams have also joined the rescue efforts. In addition, Delhi Police, DDMA, MCD, CATS, and Civil Defense teams are collaboratively conducting the operation. All agencies are working together to extricate individuals trapped under the rubble.
Following the incident, the area was filled with heavy crowds and a sense of fear. Nearby residents were swiftly evacuated to a safe distance to avoid any hindrance to the rescue efforts. Both machinery and manual labor are being utilized to clear the debris.
Reports indicate that some individuals have sustained injuries and have been promptly admitted to nearby hospitals. Medical teams are treating the injured and monitoring their conditions. However, the exact number of people trapped under the debris remains unclear at this time.
