BRS Faces Election Defeat Due to Leaders Arrogance, Says Kavitha

Hyderabad, February 28: Kavitha, the president of Telangana Jagruti, stated on Friday that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) lost the elections due to the arrogance of its leaders and the party’s failure to fulfill its promises.

Her comments followed a post by her brother, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the executive president of BRS, celebrating his acquittal in a Delhi excise policy case.

In a media interaction, Kavitha questioned, “Am I the reason for the defeat?” She attributed the BRS’s loss to not providing jobs and homes as promised, as well as re-nominating ‘looters’ for elections. Kavitha, the daughter of BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), emphasized, “Most importantly, your arrogant attitude has led to the party’s downfall.”

She urged her brother to accept the truth, stating, “It takes courage to engage in politics. One must also accept defeat. Understand what happened in the elections and act accordingly.”

Kavitha remarked that KTR was attempting to portray the court ruling in his favor. She asserted that blaming him for the party’s defeat was unfair.

She recalled that neither KCR nor KTR held a press conference to support her until she was imprisoned. Even the BRS’s social media did not back her during that time.

In March 2024, when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested her, Kavitha was serving as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) for BRS. She spent over five months in jail before being granted bail.

Last year, Kavitha left BRS and resigned from her MLC position after being suspended for alleged anti-party activities.

She expressed that receiving a clean chit just two months before starting a new political party felt like a blessing from God.

Earlier, KTR had posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the Aam Aadmi Party government, led by Arvind Kejriwal, was brought down under the guise of an alleged liquor scam, and that the BRS would pay the political price for this narrative in the upcoming assembly and general elections.
