New Delhi, May 14: The BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting is set to commence in New Delhi under India’s presidency. This significant gathering comes at a time when geopolitical tensions are escalating in West Asia.
The meeting will be chaired by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Foreign ministers and senior representatives from BRICS member countries are expected to participate. Delegations from various nations have already begun arriving in New Delhi for this high-level meeting.
This marks the first major ministerial meeting during India’s BRICS presidency. It is anticipated to play a crucial role in shaping the agenda for the BRICS leaders’ summit scheduled for later this year.
During a weekly media briefing held in New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that senior diplomats from participating countries will attend the meeting. The ministry also outlined the broad topics for discussion over the two-day event.
The BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting is scheduled for May 14 and 15, with India presiding over the proceedings.
According to the MEA, the discussions will focus on key regional and global developments, strengthening multilateral cooperation among member countries, and advancing reforms in international governance structures in light of changing geopolitical realities. The ministry stated that participating countries will determine their own representation levels, with further details to be shared once delegations arrive in New Delhi.
Representatives attending the summit will also meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their visit to the national capital.
Recently, India unveiled the official logo and website for its BRICS 2026 presidency. Officials noted that this year’s summit theme reflects India’s “Humanity First” and people-centered approach, emphasized by Prime Minister Modi during the BRICS summit held in Rio de Janeiro in 2025.
This will be the fourth time India hosts a BRICS summit, showcasing New Delhi’s growing role within the group and among countries in the Global South.
